You can not visit the temple without knowing a bit of history of the Khmer empire between the 9th century to the 15th century CE.

So you have many choice:  either you hire a guide when you will visit the temple or you bring a book with a lot of picture that will explain you the past of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To be honest I chose the last option, however I must admit I didn’t read completely the guide book. However I’ve found on the internet those series of documentary which are very good to explain this fantastic culture. It is divided in 5 parts.
