Queen Spa is the most popular Spa in Shenzhen. It provides very good quality services with a high level of hygiene. It is the first Spa I have tried when i arrived in Asia. A friend of mine decided to share this experience with me, so we went there for a long Saturday afternoon. Though it is sometimes quite difficult to find your way in China if you don’t speak Chinese, it is actually quite easy to go there by yourself.
From Hong Kong, we arrived at Lo Wu border. Once we came out of the immigration (only one exit from the border on Shenzhen side), we turned right, walk 10 meters and turn right again. We followed the way, passed the stairs and escalator and turned right one more time. We could notice at the end of this place a parking where a lot of people were waiting to suggest different Spa services. Just before this area we saw on the left side a small shop named “Queen Spa”. They offered to drive us there via a shuttle bus free of charge.
If you can’t find the shuttle bus, you can still take a cab and show him this business card:

Once we arrived at the SPA, we were kindly welcome by several Chinese women all dressed in white. They gave each of us a rubber bracelet with a number on it, men were taken to their changing room, my girl friend to her side. A man opened the doors of the numbered lockers corresponding to the one of my bracelet. He gave me a big soft bath towel. After being undressed and wrapped in the towel, I stored my things in my own locker and reached the individual men showers provided with all the bath accessories (moistering cleanser, shampoos, etc…).
The men area was equipped with a Sauna, a mini Swimming Pool, a Jacuzzi, a cold pool, a Hammam. I could relax and enjoyed all of those services. I could have also access to a common pool (for men and women) with mini toboggans, warm water jets, bubble seats in the pool, etc…(I have not brought a swimsuit, however they provided one for me free of charge).
Before we got split in each changing room, my girl friend and I agreed to spend maximum 30 minutes in those private area and then to meet in the common area. When it was the time for me to go and meet my friend, I went to the exit where another man was waiting for any customer. He was in charge of exchanging my towel against a kind of “pyjama” so that I could hang out within the SPA without problem. Once I was ready I went to the third level known as the common area.
My friend asked me to wait for her just in front of the fruit buffet. While I was waiting for her (as you probably know woman are always late ;o) ) I noticed that this SPA was big and provided a lot of services. The common room is the place where you can eat for free some fruits amongst a huge selection and have some drinks (tea, fruit juices, etc…) in a comfortable relaxation chairs with remote control to be more or less lying down and an individual tv set.
A few choices were offered to us:
We decided to choose the latest option. They offered different types of Massage like Chinese Massage, Hong Kong Massage, Accupuncture Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Thai Massage. Those massages require you to be half naked so they are realized in a private room with a very relaxing atmosphere. After choosing the massage we desired, we were conducted to the room they had attributed to us and we spent 90mn of pure relaxing time.
For the anecdote, they have a screen which lists all the girls working there. I was able to choose the girl who had done my massage based on her picture.
After each service, you have to sign a small form and make a cross in front of the tip you choose to give to your “performer” (proposed amongst different choices : 10, 20, 30 up to 100 yuans) so that this will be included in the final bill when you leave.
This is not very expensive, for instance:
We were so relaxed at the end of the day that we did not want to leave the SPA. We decided to sleep there. The only problem is that men and women have separated bed rooms. You must not be claustrophobic because you are lying on a mattress stuck in a narrow cabin (like in some military ship) closed with a curtain. Anyway we slept quite well and it was very quiet. When we woke up, we could use the showers, eat more fruits and have a breakfast (obviously the breakfast is not free). We could also ask for any other massages and leave whenever we wished.
The only inconvenient of this SPA is that the majority of the Chinese people working there do not speak English very well even not at all. There are only 2 or 3 hostesses among a range of 50 that speak English. But this is the case for most of the other “Spas” in Shenzhen.
This was a very interesting and enjoyable experience to go there, we felt so relaxed after these good massages.
