Being a simple resident of Hong Kong, a tourist travelling in the region or just someone planning your next event in Hong Kong, you need to know the best weather forecast website in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Observatory (called the Observatory) is a department of the Government of Hong Kong. It forecasts weather and issues warnings on weather-related hazards. It provides weather services to the public, fishermen, shipping community, special users, as well as the aviation sector. Actually during tropical cyclone and rainstorm situations, some advance indications of the issuance or cancellation of signals and warnings will be given to the public to let people take early precautions against severe weather.

I use their website every day to schedule my “after work” event. I don’t know really the reason but they have 2 domain names for the same website: http://www.weather.gov.hk and http://www.hko.gov.hk.

The Observatory has such a huge expertise and high reputation as in 2000, the WMO (World Meteorological Organisation) tasked the Hong Kong Observatory to develop and operate an official website on weather all over the world.  The World Weather Information Service (WWIS) website is the first website and the only one in the world for official city forecasts.
